If you can afford a tesla, I'd say get a top of the line geforce(not
the one with 2 cards/chips in them).

I haven't tried it, but if you can get a PCI riser board, you can fit
pretty much most cards horizontally on your 1u.  You'll have to
manually check the dimensions though.
