Hello all!
We hope you are safe and sound in your corner of the world. OISF has
been developing Suricata for about 11.5 years now and we would not be
where we are without the support from you great community members. So,
thank you for all the support all through these years. We now ask for
help regarding an important issue that we face.
We have been observing the lack of women in our community for a long
time. Over the past few years we have looked at ways to encourage more
women into the field and into our community through our participation
in Outreachy, involvement in WiCyS (Women in Cybersecurity)
organization, offering scholarships to SuriCon and more. While we
indeed have improved somewhat, we are still quite far away from having
a balance in the community.
We recently started our efforts with "Women of Suricata" where we have
been reaching out to women active in our community. We hope to have
webinars and discussions around Suricata which would start with the
very basics and go up to advanced levels as per our audience.
We invite all the women already working with or interested in Suricata
to join us and help our community become strong and balanced. If you
do not identify as a woman but know any women who might be interested,
please get us connected with them at info at oisf.net.
We continue to see more women interested in Suricata and are excited
about creating a space to welcome even more of them.
Please reach out to us in case of any queries regarding the same.
Thank you very much!
