Writing our own parser is no better than what snort did, folks.. There
is no consensus on what snort "configurations" are capable with which
versions of snort.
I feel that YAML is a good direction.
I would STRONGLY request that configuration language definition /
Schema files be written.
We can look at validation of YAML with:
Kwalify is a parser, schema validator, and data binding tool for YAML and JSON.

Keep rule configuration topics in the rule configuration mailing
list.. Many people feel rule configurations need to be self
contained.. or at least need reverse distribution scripts. (Take an
array of sids This is not required for configuration files. )
